Why Indian Rich People Say No To Supercars?

Why Indian Rich People Say No To Supercars? Our Indian car market is the third largest car market in the world and India also ranks third in the list of the richest people. More than 81,000 people in India pay more than Rs 1 crore in taxes every year.

But still you must have noticed one thing that here supercar brands are able to sell only 30-40 cars annually. In comparison to other countries, the demand for supercars here is very low. Even after people have so much money. So what is the reason for this? Why do we not get to see many supercars on Indian roads? So I am going to explain the answer to this further.

Small market size

So look, supercar is a niche product which represents a very small segment of the market. The cars in this segment are mainly performance oriented which is not everyone’s first choice. Now any market develops only when there is a good demand for it among the people.

If there is no demand, a good market cannot develop. This is the reason why the list of rich people in India is getting longer but still the demand for supercars is not that much.

There are many reasons for this. Firstly, less value. In India, our customers prefer luxury cars more than performance oriented supercars because their value is also higher among the people than a supercar.

This is the reason why more than 700 Meganes have been sold in India from 2015 to 2024. This number is quite high compared to supercars. Therefore, the problem is more of value than money.

If a businessman can buy a Toyota Land Cruiser, Mercedes Maybach S Class or Range Rover Vogue worth Rs 2-3 crore, then he can easily afford a supercar as well. But this does not happen due to the value.

Maintenance cost

The second reason is the complex maintenance of supercars. A supercar is never known for great reliability and maintenance.

Due to cutting edge technology and race car speed, there are a lot of breakdowns in them, repairing which is no less than a nightmare.

There are almost no supercar special mechanics and service centers in India. If this supercar breaks down by mistake, many parts have to be imported from outside and sometimes even mechanics have to be called from outside.

And in all this, both the money and time of the owners are wasted. If there is even a small scratch on the car, the service center takes months to fix it. And you know that rich people do not waste their time like this.

Bad road

The next reason is the bad roads here. You know that supercars have low ground clearance, so they need a smooth and even road. But in India, except for the big cities, there are very few good roads. There is no proper infrastructure here to handle supercars.

It is almost impossible to drive a supercar in the city area. There are so many speed breakers and potholes everywhere, which are enough to cause a lot of damage to the car.

The speed limit on Indian expressways is also very low which will not let you check the top speed of the supercar. And if you over speed then you will have to pay the expenses to this Bhai Sahab again.

Indian roads are full of wreckage drivers, which leaves supercar owners with the fear of getting into a car accident.

Not for family

Next last reason is supercars are not practical. Indians prefer comfort and ease of mind over speed and performance. Supercars are not that practical in comparison to luxury cars.

Being a two seater, rock hard suspension and limited luggage space makes it uncomfortable and quite noisy. Owners find luxury sedans and SUVs more practical than supercars which they can drive daily to office or for road trips.

Also, supercars grab a lot of unwanted attention, which makes parking them a problem. You cannot park them anywhere like normal cars, because anyone can tamper with your car in public parking. Due to this fear, many supercar owners keep bodyguards for their cars parked in the parking lot. These expensive supercars also get special attention from the media, due to which car owners who do not want to show off, run away from them.

These are some of the reasons why even today Supercars are not bought much in India, by the way what is your opinion about this, tell me in the comment, and follow our website for such interesting facts.
