He said that on one hand, the US is imposing economic sanctions against Russia, but at the same time it continues to import important goods including uranium from the same Russia. 50% tax on India
Former US President Donald Trump had announced that 50 % tax would be imposed on goods imported from India. Congress MP. Shashi Tharoor has expressed his concern regarding this. He said, This announcement is not good news for India, and that he is worried that this increase in tariffs will hinder our products from being sold in the US.
He also said that since the US imposes a 50% tariff on goods imported from India, the price of our products will increase and it will not be affordable for the people in the US. As a result, goods from countries like Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Bangladesh and Pakistan will be easily available with low tariffs.
This will create competition for India’s import trade and the American people will be able to choose other countries where they can get cheaper products, Shashi Tharoor said.
Britain deal
Shashi Tharoor said that the US imposing high tariffs on Indian products is not good for our export trade. Due to this, Indian products will become more expensive in the US, and the American people may want to buy cheaper products from other countries. Due to this, India may face a setback in trade.
To overcome this situation, India should actively go towards other countries and new markets and strengthen its exports, he said. Currently, India has a free trade agreement with Britain.
Moreover, talks are underway with the European Union. He expressed hope that by expanding cooperation with various such countries, India’s export position can be restored. However, Shashi Tharoor clearly stated that this will be a setback for our economy in the short term.

America Buying Uranium From Russia
Although the United States has announced economic sanctions against Russia, in reality it continues to import key items including uranium from Russia. Shashi Tharoor criticized this, saying that the position of the United States looks like a double standard.
Moreover, China also imports a large amount of crude oil from Russia. However, the United States gives China a 90-day grace period, but adopts a tough stance only towards India. This shows that the administration of the country, which we want to be friendly with and which we believed to have goodwill towards us, does not actually show a friendly attitude or an equal attitude towards us.
